RAC British Touring Car Championship Season Review 1994

Thrilling action and fierce on-track rivalry between BMW, Ford, Alfa Romeo, Vauxhall, Renault, (& more), made the ’94 Auto Trader RAC British Touring Car Championship Britain’s biggest motorsport spectacle and the world’s most competitive Touring Car Championship.

This comprehensive summary of the season’s coverage – as featured on BBC TV Grandstand – includes the very best action from all 21 rounds. Gabrielle Tarquini’s domination of the early season races in the flying Alfa gave way to round after round of ultra-close battles between the Alfa team, reigning champion Jo Winkelhock (BMW), Paul Radisich (Ford), Alain Menu (Renault) and John Cleland (Vauxhall) – and the debut of the amazing Volvo Estate.

It was not surprising then that the massive crowds enjoyed brilliant racing all the way to the last rounds.

BHP have again excelled themselves in condensing all the best of the action into this three hour video. On-board cameras in, or on, all the leading cars capture the true drama f every race whilst stereo sound is used for the first time to enhance the visual thrills. The British Touring Car Championship is proudly brought to you by TOCA Limited.

With authoritative commentary from Murray Walker complementing high quality production, this is one of THE sports tapes of 1994. Don’t miss it!

RAC British Touring Car Championship Season Review 1995

April 1st 1995 saw the launch of another dramatic, all-action BTCC season – but this was no April Fool’s Day for the huge crowds at Donington at the start of a long, hot summer in which the world’s best saloon racers took the temperature to boiling point!

In 1995 all 13 race weekends (apart from the British GP) featured two thrilling tin-top rounds and this terrific 3-hour video review includes the very best of BBC TV’s extensive Grandstand coverage of all 25 rounds, presented by Steve Rider with commentary from Murray Walker and with stereo sound.

Exciting team changes in ’95 also kept interest levels high. British hero Derek Warwick jumped into the Alfa seat previously held by reigning champ Gabriele Tarquini, Nissan pulled out and Honda stepped in, and Johnny Cecotto took over the reins for BMW. But throughout the season it was the sensational Vauxhall Cavaliers driven by determined Scot John Cleland & fiery young Yorkshireman James Thompson which dominated the leaderboard, consistently pulling the rug from under chief rivals Rydell (Volvo), Menu (Renault), Radisich (Ford) and other tough opponents.

Constant lead changes, door-to-door jousting and numerous ‘racing incidents’ feature highly in this fast and furious racing frenzy, highlighted by superb on-board cameras which puts you in the hot seat with these gladiators of the tarmac!

RAC British Touring Car Championship Season Review 1998

After 5 rounds there were five different winners in five different cars. In all, no fewer than 9 drivers won races, representing six different manufacturers. The mix of Renault, Volvo, Honda, Nissan, Peugeot, Audi, Ford and Vauxhall, with top drivers Menu, Plato, Rydell, Thompson, Cleland, Warwick, Muller, Reid and guest appearances by Nigel Mansell adding to the merry-go-round, generated a sequence of fluctuating results and podium finishes.

Like all the best championships, this one went ‘down to the wire’. As Rydell and Reid lined up on the grid for the final round at Silverstone, the record crowd were anticipating a dramatic and thrilling season finale.

They weren’t disappointed, and nor will you watch the drama unfold in this official three-hour season review which also saw Tommy Rustad lift the Autosport Cup for independent teams in his DC Cook Renault Laguna.

Charlie Cox and John Watson commentate for you in this motorsport epic featuring the very best of the racing as shown on BBC TV Grandstand – including some heart-squeezing in-car footage. We’ll also tell you everything you need to know about the drivers, the teams, technical developments, and behind-the-scenes dramas which help make this series such compelling entertainment.

RAC British Touring Car Championship Season Review 1999

The top series in Super Touring racing always has a lot to live up to after several years of being one of the most entertaining forms of motorsport on the planet – but it managed to keep its crown yet again in 1999.

Whilst the multi-million pound factory teams of Ford, Honda, Nissan, Renault, Vauxhall and Volvo battled it out over the 13 rounds at 8 different tracks it was a drive by privateer Matt Neal in a 1998 Nissan Primera that grabbed the headlines early on in the season and highlighted why the BTCC is so special. Matt picked up a cheque for £250,000 from series organiser Alan Gow after being the first privateer to take the chequered flag!

Once the big teams got over the shock it was Nissan (Laurent Aiello and David Leslie), Volvo (Rickyard Rydell) and Honda (James Thompson) who carried the fight through the season.

Night racing added extra spice to the show during the summer – and provided popular with drivers and fans alike.

BHP have as usual captured it all brilliantly from the first starting light to the last chequered flag – as you can see in this epic three-hour video review.
