Description

There was an increasing surge of engine noise as a multitude of barges and other landing craft turned on their engines. The white ensigns were flowing freely from the stern of all the craft. It was all quite a sight. The crews waved to each other and shouted encouraging comments as we let go our buoys or hauled in the anchors. We all had our private thoughts and wondered what was to lie ahead.

(This rare book is an edition prior to publication & before revisions, with a letter directly from the writer W D ‘Jim’ Jarman explaining the changes that weren’t able to be changed in this edition. All these changes are mentioned in the letter as well as detailed on separate sheets. This issue was only given to ex-sailors. It also comes with a postcard with a personal message & a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year card. The letter dates to 26 August 1997 & has been signed by the author.)

This book as also been signed on the front cover by W D ‘Jim’ Jarman and signed August 1997.
